THE CARB-LOVING BESTIES BEHIND THE BRAND
Best friends Hyla Nayeri and Adrien Bettio realized that they wanted to be able to go to Adrien’s Nonna’s for a 5 course Italian meal prior to a beach trip, yet still feel confident in a swimsuit. So in the summer of 2017, they launched 437 specifically for that reason — to allow females to feel their most confident selves in a bikini and never feel the need to “diet” before a vacay.
“We really wanted to make swimwear that was comfortable but still sexy. Our goal was for girls to feel confident enough in our swimwear to eat a burger at the pool bar without thinking twice. If there’s anything we can do for you — or if you’re ever in Toronto and want to get some pasta — hit us up!"
ps: 437 was the house number we lived at while launching the brand!
ABOUT OUR SUITS
Our suits are designed with your curves (and cravings) in mind.
We pride ourselves in creating luxe swimsuits that flatter the body. If you haven't felt the 437 fabric yet, you're in for a treat. It's a luxuriously soft polyester-spandex blend that is constructed with a double-layered seamless design for a universally curve hugging fit.
MEET THE TEAM
Our team is currently made up of 5 full-time girls (Hyla, Adrien, Noura, Kate, Liv), along our amazing interns (Celia, Melissa, Liz, Safa). We work out of the 437 office, which is right above our showroom Downtown Toronto. We are a small group of girls in our 20's who have one goal in mind..
Countless girls have tried on our suits and have said "I've never felt more confident about my body than I do now" and so it is our mission to bring that feeling to the masses.
WHERE YOUR SUITS ARE MADE MATTERS
Our female run factory in China is one of our favourite parts of 437.
In 2016, before 437 launched, Hyla and Adrien had the opportunity to go to China and meet with Rita, the owner of their manufacturing facility. Rita grew up in a low income family and had the desire to make a name for herself. This ambition helped her in establishing her manufacturing facility which specializes in the production of swimwear and lingerie. They have fair wages, they mandate safe working conditions and schedule fair working hours.
In November of 2018, the two of them went back to China to meet with Rita and to visit the factory. Everyday for the two weeks there, Hyla and Adrien spent the day and evening with Rita and her sister Cindy. Rita's factory employs all of their family members, and others in the community. In the photo above, Hyla and Adrien are at Rita's house for lunch, along with Rita's sisters and her nieces.
437 prides themselves in being involved in the manufacturing process beginning at the initial sketches. Whenever a sample is received Hyla and Adrien put it on their bodies and ask “how can we make this better”. Through even the smallest tweaks, each suit is then developed so that it will be flattering on most body types.
